Chocolate is often touted as being a more health-conscious treat and polyphenols are just one of the reasons why. (And, to be fair, you can find polyphenols in other foods such as broccoli, almonds and blueberries, but of course, chocolate has a little more star power.)
Full of several health benefits, polyphenols are plant compounds that are not easily digested by cells, but can be more easily processed in the digestive system and may help increase the number of healthy bacteria while helping reduce less desirable strains.
